In an effort to improve communications between town officials and residents during an emergency such as a major storm, Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Paul Milositz is asking people to sign up their mobile phones with the town?s Code Red emergency notification system.
?We learned that greater communications was necessary during the aftermath of the recent storms,? said Chief Milositz. ?To that end we are expanding our communications capabilities and reach to get official information out to the public in as broad a manner as possible.?
Code Red is a telephone-based system with capabilities to send emails and text messages as well.
?We can put out a recorded emergency message to the over 7,000 telephones currently in our database in a matter of 30 minutes or less,? said the chief.
